Do you LOVE to read?

Reading is such an important life skill, and I want my students to not only be good readers but LOVE to read! Students are enthralled with technology and eReaders provide many books on one simple device. My students need 7 Kindle eReaders. I know that these would help my students develop a LOVE for reading! Our school is a public school. While we are in a suburban area, and our school is extremely diverse. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Not all of my students are exposed to technology that is becoming more and more commonplace in homes. My classroom only has two computers and no tablets or eReaders. Our library does have a set of Nooks; however, having eReaders in my classroom would ensure that my students would use this technology on a daily basis.

My Project

Imagine opening that present on Christmas morning or on your birthday! Think about how excited you are to get that one thing you want! Technology in the classroom makes books come alive. Technology is sort of like that present to the kids at school. They get SO excited to use the computers, Smartboards, and other technology. I want my students to have that feeling. I want them to have access to the same technology that other students around the country have. These resources will allow me to differentiate my instruction in order to provide enough books to all of the students in my classroom. My students will be able to use the Kindles to read books on their levels. The Kindle Fire will allow struggling readers to use read aloud programs and have books read to them.

This project is important because it will reach each child in my class.

It will give them an opportunity to learn and grow on their own reading levels, while enjoying what they are reading! These donations will provide my students with books and technology that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to use!
