Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have been working in this school for 14 years now and I couldn’t be happier. Watching my students grow and become independent learners has been a privilege. My students come from different backgrounds but they all have one thing in common....the passion to learn and become better every day.
For the 2019/2020 school year, I would like for my students to develop a deeper passion for learning, especially when it comes to reading.
I have noticed that my students have limited resources at home and I would like to extend my classroom library and provide my students with the opportunity to read different genres of books and to love the idea of reading a good book!
My Project
My students have shown an interest in graphic novels and realistic fiction books. My classroom library, unfortunately, does not have the kinds of books that my students are interested in reading. Many times, the students have to share the books that I have and do not have the option to take them home. I would like to expand my classroom library and allow my students to look through books that are interesting to them and allow them the opportunity to take these books home and share them with their families. This will make a big difference in my students lives and will motivate them to read every day.
