A Love for Litearcy

My students need tools to develop their love in literacy. Puppets, ABC flash cards, and felt boards will aid in their development through play in oral language, reading, and literacy.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 20 wonderful students. The range in age from 3 to 5 years old. My students represent a wide range of backgrounds. The school district is made up of 52% Hispanic, 35% African American, and 22% Caucasian. A few of my students are learning English, with Spanish being their primary language. They are very eager to learn and they deserve the best of the best!

My students are little sponges.

They are soaking in everything they learn. They are very excited to learn and grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Since they are very young, they need hands-on experiences to aid in their learning. They love to learn through play. Play is vital to the learning process for early childhood.

These students would greatly benefit from your donation. We are in great need of tools to assist their learning. Thank your for taking the time to read.

My Project

A love for reading must be fostered at a young age. My students partake in reading time and centers every day. Learning through play is important for pre-k students. I am asking for tools that will help me and my students in the classroom.

Felt boards will help me bring stories to life for my students.

After I am finished using them, I will let the children create their own stories in a center. Imagination is a skill that must be developed. Puppets are a great tool for developing oral language. I will use these in centers as well. The children have already requested puppets. They will love playing and learning with them.

During pre-k students learn their abc's. They must be able to determine the difference between upper and lowercase letters. By having flashcards, I will be able to go over the letters every day in whole group instruction. They need flashcards with upper and lowercase letters. The alphabet pocket chart will be a great tool for them to explore the letters. Having a nameplate with the alphabet will be a constant reminder at their finger tips.

With your help, my students will get a literacy experience they deserve. Learning starts very young. Their eyes sparkle with excitement when they interact with a story I read. I cannot wait to see how happy they are when they see the puppets and felt board. Thank you for your time!
