This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many words come to mind when I think about my 3rd-grade students at N.E. There are some obvious ones like kind, silly, motivated, and empathic. However, for the 20-21 school year, the word that best describes my students is strong. Despite all the challenges my students have faced this year, they continue to rise and persevere. Each day my students inspire me and motivate me to become a better teacher.

My Project

With everything going on in the world, social and emotional well being has been a huge focus of our daily instruction. During our PBIS portion of the day, students have practiced mindfulness activities such as breathing techniques, positive self-talk, and recognizing emotions they may feel throughout the day. It is evident that social and emotional learning (SEL) is critical for students this year. I would like to introduce my students to another SEL activity-journaling. Journaling promotes self-awareness and self-management in children while also strengthening their writing skills. By donating to this project, you are giving me the opportunity to gift each of my students a journal, a set of colored pencils, and a pen. Thank you in advance for your support.
