My Students
My students are funny and smart. My class is diverse, and there are many students whose first language is not English. They love exploring and being creative in their learning. Some of their favorite things to do are STEM activities and, of course, art. I have some of the most creative first graders! They also love being read to!
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most important weapon which you can use to change the world."
In addition to teaching my students the core content, I am trying to teach them that education is powerful, that it will get them anywhere they want to go, and that it will help them to change the world.
My Project
This year has been incredibly challenging, for students and for teachers. Many students in my first grade class are learning how to be in school for the first time They are having to learn, not only how to be a student, but how to work with others, problem solve, and how to be a friend. The Little Spot of...book sets will be so helpful during the Social and Emotional Lessons I am teaching every day to help them be successful in school. My students have responded so well to being read to, these books will definitely be loved and well received in our classroom this year.

I hope that by the end of the year, I will have given my students the tools they need to not only be successful in their academics, but with their social and emotional development.
