Help me give my students tools to develop their awareness of the emotions of others. By giving a simple smiley face pin, my students can learn to how to acknowledge others who might be sad or lonely.

My Project
My students are so special, they are kind, thoughtful, and loving, but not always. Through this project my goal is to promote mental health awareness. I will work with them to find tools that will help them respond appropriately in difficult situations. We will then transition out of our classroom and involve the rest of the school by passing along smiles to others who are lonely or sad.
We will take the leap to share our tools with others, so they can learn skills on how to combat anxiety and stress.
The final part of this project is to have them learn the importance of giving to others within our community. Teaching them to promote the wellness of others is a lifelong lesson. My students will write note cards for residents of local nursing home, in effort to make a difference in the life of someone who they may not even know.
