My students need 24 privacy screens to create distraction free work areas. They also need a little outdoor fun and the sand table and bubbles will be fun on hot fall days.
Transitional Kindergarten is a place of growing and learning with part of our day spent in the classroom working, learning to maintain focus and after all of that hard work, outdoor centers including the sand table and bubble blowing are welcome activities.
My students are the youngest students in the school.
We are a small school, part of a larger school district that requires assessments even for our Transitional Kindergarten students. Learning to focus and work without distractions is important for all students and providing a place of privacy is very helpful for those students with special needs, who are easily distracted. We also like to have fun, engaging in motor skills, exploration and fun outdoor activities. My TK students get off to a great start and the materials and supplies provided help all children access the curriculum.
My Project
As the children burst through the classroom door on their way out to the playground they will delight in playing with bubbles on warm summer and fall days. This is an activity that can be enjoyed on the shaded lawn. The sand table offers an area that is quiet and a rest from active play. We have many materials for the sand table but are in need of fresh, clean sand.
In the classroom, we work at tables and often the children are distracted by other children and activities going on in the classroom. The privacy screens will provide a distraction free area for my students.
This project is important because these are items that are not provided by the school or school district.
Acquiring materials through Donors Choose enables me to focus on an enriched curriculum for my students.
