Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Providing students with the materials for both soil-based and hydroponic growing systems will allow them to observe plant growth from start to finish in two different environments. This hands-on experience will help them develop a deeper understanding of plant life cycles, scientific observation, and environmental sustainability. By comparing traditional soil gardening with hydroponic methods, students will learn how different factors like water, nutrients, and space affect plant growth. This real-world application of science will engage them in meaningful learning and encourage curiosity about agriculture, technology, and environmental conservation.

In addition to science materials, having engaging and interactive centers for math, as well as continents and oceans, will strengthen students’ foundational skills across subjects.

Math center materials will provide hands-on practice with key concepts such as number sense, operations, and problem-solving strategies, helping students build confidence in their mathematical thinking. The continents and oceans materials will support geography and social studies lessons, allowing students to explore the world beyond their own community. These resources will provide opportunities for independent and small-group learning, reinforcing key concepts in a fun and meaningful way.

My students are special because they come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique perspectives and experiences to the classroom. Many are English Language Learners who are eager to grow their vocabulary and understanding of academic subjects through hands-on and interactive learning experiences. They thrive when given opportunities to explore concepts in a way that connects to their lives and interests. By incorporating engaging science, math, and geography materials, I can help them develop critical thinking skills, perseverance, and a love of learning. These resources will support their academic growth while fostering curiosity and excitement about the world around them.
