Remember the fascination you might have had (or still have) for observing fish in an aquarium? I want to bring that experience to our science classroom.
The students at our school come from a variety of backgrounds, some are neighborhood children, some ride a bus from other neighborhoods to attend our school, and many of our students come from military families.
But every student in our school comes to our science lab and participates in hands-on science activities, learning, and observations.
At the beginning of the year, I set up another DonorsChoose campaign to purchase a 55 gallon aquarium and supplies. The aquarium has been running and filtering water for the last few months, but now we need to actually start adding the "fun stuff" - plants and animals. There are a few more supplies that is needed before we can get this set up and going.
My Project
I am requesting one strip lighting, an air pump and tubing, a gravel vac and pump, and live plants to complete our science classroom aquarium. The timing is perfect now, as we are going to start life science very soon. These supplies will allow my students to observe the aquarium ecosystem and make observations.
This project will have a significant impact on all four hundred plus students we have at our school.
From the smallest TK kids (transitional kindergarten) to our fifth graders, everyone will get the opportunity to learn and enjoy our classroom aquarium.
