This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The best and easiest way to describe my students is that they are survivors. My class is a dual language kindergarten classroom, and I am charged with teaching them Spanish language arts and math. I will have two classes, each consisting of 21 highly motivated and fully charged five-year-olds. My children and their families have been hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. Many of my families had to be evacuated, and our school sustained a lot of damage. We are teaching at a relocation site with the basics. We couldn't ask our parents for any type of supply after what they went through. My kids are ready to be back at their school, but we need some materials to open a listening workstation and storage in order to feel complete. We hope to be back at our school soon and these items would help my students adjust to yet another move.
My Project
We are a hop, skip, and a jump away from going back to our home school and we are super excited. We also realize that we need some organizational supplies in order to have our room kid ready. The bookshelf, under shelf baskets, clear view bins with lids, lapboard supply center, magnetic folder bins, magnetic storage boxes, magnetic supply caddy, and the book bin storage case with bins will allow the students to have easy access to the materials and have somewhere to house the materials. The comfy couch, the batteries, the comfy seats, and the wireless classroom headphone set will allow me to open a much needed listening workstation. The batteries wilI be used for the wireless headphones and allow my children to listen to their books any where in the room. I have the book sets and the CD player but no where to put the materials for the kids to listen to the books comfortably. The file cabinet will give me a place to put the children's portfolios and have my paperwork organized. The accent carpet will give the students an extra carpet area to sit and read or lay down while listening to their books. The drying rack will be used anytime an art project is done in our classroom.
We are so excited to go back to our classroom but we need some storage and organizational help before we can get set up again.
If we get funded, my students would walk into a classroom in January that is ready and waiting for them.
