My Students
Do you remember having someone read you a story as a child? Hearing a story for the first time is so exciting for a child. Having books and cassette tapes to listen to in our listening center gives my students the opportunity to have someone read to them.
I teach first grade in a small, rural Title I elementary school in South Carolina.
Most of these students come from low-income homes and do not have access to the technology that many of us consider common. They love going into our listening center and hearing books read aloud to them.
My Project
Having books with cassette tapes in our classroom will allow my students to pick out a book of their choice, pop in the cassette tape and read along. They will have the freedom to choose a book that they like and have it read aloud while they follow along with the book.
This project is important because it will free the minds of my students and give them a chance to read by picking their own book and following along with the cassette.
Make reading a reality for my students and they will be forever made a stronger learner.
