Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When my current 5th graders were in 4th grade, they participated in the daunting-to-some, yet outrageously awesome 40 BOOK CHALLENGE, which entailed reading 40 books from a variety of genres by the end of the school year. Although no one rose to victory, my students are determined to beat the challenge this year!
I want my classroom to foster students' love for reading.
After a full morning of classes that runs from 7:30 am to 12:10 pm, my students enjoy coming back from lunchtime to the classroom for their independent reading block, which is the time when they get to read their favorite book for 20 minutes.
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN. I'd love to provide my kiddos with wonderful reading material, but our library is severely lacking. In order to accommodate my class of 40 students, my goal is to build a comprehensive library - with an extensive range of books covering multiple genres and reading levels.
