This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The items in this project are meant to spark a moment of joy for students when they choose a bookmark or sticker that they like, need a quick snack, or see books that they have requested are here, on display, ready to be checked out.
This project centers on enhancing the students' experience in the library during visits at class time and lunchtime and during Book Club meetings.
Students in the Book Club have made a year-long effort to read many books and come to weekly meetings. This project allows me to offer more activities to motivate them (like creating their own bookmark) and celebrate their participation with snacks, hot chocolate parties, and other incentives. Without the students, the library is just a room with books. This project makes the library a place worth returning to- books and beyond.
