My students need 55 new books because they attend a charter school that has NO library budget. Every book listed here is a book they requested.

My Students

"A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life." ~Henry Ward Beecher As a charter school we receive less funding than a typical public school. As the Librarian, I have to find a way to raise every dollar I use to buy books. The children LOVE the library and they need more books!

We are a K-12 school that depicts an accurate snapshot of the demographics of our city.

We have poor and privileged. We have every race and ethnicity possible. Most importantly, we have readers. The Library is absolutely the students' favorite place to be. Book checkout is very popular and the collection cannot keep up with their needs. These children devour books and truly enjoy the learning process. They know about the wish list I keep for them on my blog- and they are constantly asking to add to it. These children are hungry for books!

My Project

We are a school of 1650 children from Kindergarten through high school. These books will become part of their K-12 Library collection to be checked out, read, loved, and treasured for many years to come. Students have scheduled checkout times, besides their normal information literacy instruction in the library. They come to me at least once a week and it is a time of excitement and high energy. We often spend time discussing our favorite books and talking about what books we would love to add to the collection. Know that this list was completely generated by my students- so it is dear to their hearts.

This project has been created at the request of my students.

They so want these books as this is the wish list that they created. I have taken requests from students as young as 5 and as old as 17. This project will bring smiles to MANY faces.
