My goal, as a teacher, is to provide the best learning environment for my students. My school is very supportive in all that I do, but does not have the funds to get new supplies for the students. These students, who come from a high-poverty area, come to school to learn new things and have experiences that they might not be able to at home.
I work with students with Emotional Disabilities at a District 75 school in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
I am so fortunate to have such a great group of students. Although my students face their own challenges everyday, they never fail to try their best in any situation.
My Project
My students are individuals who do not have the resources to access books at home or at a library. These students with disabilities all read and learn at different learning levels. This project will help my students have the resources that are "just right" for them!
Reading is a skill that will help my students for the rest of their lives!
Creating a passion for reading at an early age is an important skill that will help give my students the resources they need to be able to build upon this skill and help them grow. A leveled library will give my students readily access to books that are appropriate for their specific learning level.
