Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 7th & 8th graders in a Dual-Language (Spanish-English) program in South Philadelphia and I'm hoping to incorporate some flexible seating options for my class next year. My students look forward to their independent reading time, but we don't have many options. They constantly ask if we can have some comfy chairs before they sit on the floor to read or remain at their desks.
I would like to use these different seats to motivate students to grab a book, sit back and relax.
I believe that these items will improve the overall attitude towards reading and lead to a more empowering classroom. Incorporating these new options will also be great when working in small groups and collaborating.
