This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first graders could really improve their reading skills, reading fluency and comprehension if text could be projected onto a large screen so they all could see.
My thirty first graders reside in a high poverty area in East Harlem, New York.
A majority of them live in temporary shelters. They love school and come everyday. They are talkative and energetic. They enjoy learning about animals and going on trips.
My Project
It is essential for me to introduce different ways to provide classroom instruction. Different ways to deliver instruction will motivate students to become engaged in the lesson and learn better. It would be wonderful to have a projector to enlarge texts, teach about money, write stories etc. For literacy, students can see enlarged text and read together, discuss story elements and build comprehension skills.
This teaching tool would enhance the learning instruction in my classroom and enable students to achieve academic success.
A projector would also teach my students about technology that is available in the world. That in itself is a teachable moment.
