This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love listening to music but, unfortunately, our radio is broken and we only hear static.

I currently teach 33 very sweet and energetic first graders in a Title 1 school located in a high poverty and high crime area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have 8 English as a Second Language (ESL) students in my classroom.

My Project

Every day after lunch and gym, I would like for my students to listen to relaxing music in a room with soft lighting. This tends to calm them down. Unfortunately, our current radio plays only static instead of music. In addition, our current lamp keeps on falling over and our shade is broken. I am also hoping to get a stool for my children. The reader of the day will get to sit on the stool and read a story to the other children. This will get my students excited to read and will encourage them to practice reading more.

Please help to support my 33 first graders in getting a radio, lamp and a stool.

This would not only make our classroom beautiful, but it would also encourage my students to be more focused on their work
