Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My sweet third graders live in a low-income, high poverty area where they face many challenges in their daily lives. Our school provides free and reduced-price lunch for 100% of our students. While they may struggle at home, they always come into the classroom with smiles on their faces and positive attitudes. My students know that the classroom is their safe place, where they can come each day to learn and leave their worries at the door.
"Children are not things to be molded, but people to be unfolded." ~Jess Lair
My Project
With your generosity you can help me organize our classroom library by reading level wti the requested book bins. By doing this, I can make sure that each of my third graders is selecting a book that is at their individualized academic reading level.
When children read just-right books, they are simultaneously learning and practicing reading skills while also gaining confidence in their own reading abilities.
These just-right books are books that students can read with accuracy and fluency all while comprehending what they are reading. When children are learning how to read it is important they are reading at the appropriate level in order to grow a love for books and reading.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
