My Project
It has been said that children are made readers on the lap's of their parents. But, as I've also witnessed, children are made readers on the comfortable rugs of classrooms across our world. At least, that has proven to be the case in my classroom of five and six year olds.
If you've ever gotten to read to a child, you know the incredible gift a welcoming, engaging book can be- their eyes wide with amazement, emotions matching the story's plot and their mind open to the world in which they've been allowed to escape to.
The BEST time in my Kindergarten classroom is in the moments of read aloud. We're all taken away, exploring a world in which we can only dream about being a part of.
My students deserve these engaging reading opportunities daily. The books I am requesting cover a wide range of topics, interests and genres. These books will help me foster that love of learning and reading that can only happen through modeling of the great habit. These books will update my classroom library and will match themes that I base my instruction around.
