This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a low socio-economic area. Most of them are on the free or reduced lunch program.

I have the sweetest group of students that love to learn and love being in school.

They are eager to learn and excited to take on any challenge.

My Project

One of the most foundational skills we teach in kinder is learning our letters and sounds. Learning phonetic sounds is the basis to a student becoming a great writer later in their academic career. All other skills build on the correlation between sounds and letters.

Visual and tactile manipulatives can help young students associate a letter to a sound.

The materials I request will help my students better understand the correlation between letter and sound and then creating words to apply to thier writing and reading. They will also let them visually spell and change words. This will lead my students to be lifelong readers and writers.
