This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is incredibly diverse! I have students from many countries in Central and South America as well as native Houstonians from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. We love learning Spanish and English as well as exchanging culture in my classroom. I am extremely proud of my students' desire to be bilingual. I see them learning and growing in their language acquisition everyday.

Our goal is to be bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate!

My

dual language classroom is dynamic and inclusive.

My students encourage one another to step out of their comfort zone and learn a new language.

My Project

We love our classroom guinea pigs Lucy and Susy. They help my students when they are sad and teach them respect and service. My students have learned to control their voices and avoid yelling because it hurts the guinea pigs. We also take turns feeding them and have learned about the needs of animals and how to care for them.

This month our virtue is Service.

I am teaching my students to serve others by cleaning the guinea pigs cage, feeding them a healthy diet and washing their food bowls.

Unfortunately our guinea pigs came with a cage that is way too small to house them and give them the life they deserve. It breaks my students' heart that our piggies don't have space to run and play. We want to make sure our pets have the best possible home in the classroom.
