This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are faced with challenges everyday in their lives. My students come from varied backgrounds and all deserve the opportunity to experience a variety of things. Each year I try to help them experience these different things. Every student learns differently so, I try to introduce these experiences to them.
My Project
I am requesting a place to call our books home, a bookshelf. Thanks to Donorschoose.org and Firstbook.org my students now have an abundance of books, but we have no where to store them! I am lucky enough to give out books to our scholars on a weekly basis thanks to websites like this, but they are sitting in boxes. I would love to be able to have a place to display them on a shelf, so students can come and shop at their own leisure.
They would be picking any books that they are interested in to add to their at home libraries to encourage family involvement, at home reading, learning about environmental science and more.
It is our job to help students develop a love for reading, and I know this project will help display our books to get students reading!
