Help me give my students a bookcase for our picture book collection so students can easily access and read books that represent the beauty of diversity in our classroom and beyond.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Manzo's classroom raised $426
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an educator with a passion for ethnic studies, I strive to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive classroom for my fabulous fourth graders! In our classroom, books are the foundation for building community and bridges that connect us to one another. We get to know book characters who experience the same feelings and situations that we go through and meet characters with different life experiences. We learn to understand ourselves better and express empathy for others through literature.
Thanks to DonorsChoose donors we’ve been gifted a beautiful and diverse collection of books!
All these new books need a special spot in our classroom so students can easily access and read books with characters they can see themselves in and characters who open windows to new lifestyles and identities. The bookcase will be the perfect home for many diverse books. The bookcase has four adjustable shelves so students will immediately notice the many beautiful book covers and interesting titles. The bookcase will give our cozy classroom more room to browse for books as students gather around to share their favorite books with their classmates.
Cheers to fourth-grade readers getting lost in books and yet finding themselves within the pages!
