My Project
My goals for this project are for students to enjoy reading, have fun doing it, and to connect with nature. A hammock garden is a place for this to happen. This will be something the entire school will be able to use.
At Spitler Elementary, a teacher will be able to take their class outside and read together or a student can choose to read by themselves and just enjoy the outdoors in the hammock garden.
Quite a few of our students read below grade level and do not read for enjoyment. I want this project to create a place where kids can read for pleasure.
My students will have the responsibility of taking the hammocks outside and bringing them back in. Our Parent/Teacher Group will help with the post, hardware and installation of the garden.
My students are great. They want to be the best they can be and they have the want to be kind! This garden will be a spot for the whole school and a spot where my students can shine.
