This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second grade students are inquisitive and are eager to expand their knowledge about the variety of topics that we learn on a daily basis.
Their enthusiasm in learning is evident because they are always finding ways to be challenged.
They have a strong desire to succeed despite limited resources and obstacles beyond their control.
Our school is located in a high poverty area and most students have parents that don't speak English. Also, access to technology at home is limited.
My Project
My project will provide my students with the opportunity to listen to stories during center time. They won't have to deal with cables getting tangled and can immediately get to work. The wireless headphones are up to date technology that students will have access to during class time.
They will have the opportunity to listen to stories that model proper reading pace, intonation, and prosody.
This in turn will help with reading fluency. They will also be able to practice their listening skills and learn new vocabulary words as they are listening to the stories being read. The CD player and wireless headphones will be a great benefit to my students' learning.
