A Good Book Will Be Easy to Find

My Students

My students are 4th graders who love reading! They come to class enthusiastic about reading and curious about ALL subject matters, no matter if it's fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or plays. They have various different backgrounds, but they all share two things in common: 1) they love reading, and 2) I believe in them. My students come from a neighborhood that the city has not supported, but they know and understand the importance of education and their own community.

My students are lovers of learning, who want to learn everything that they can through reading.

They love voicing their opinions on why they like their books, as well as why they dislike something they have read. Many of them want to improve their reading abilities. Having access to information is paramount for them.

My Project

With these books, my students will be able to read anything that they want during our independent reading time. Many of the books are newer and non-fiction, which will help keep students interested and invested in improving their reading prowess. The books are also at different reading levels so that every student in my classroom has an option to read during independent reading time.

These materials will help my students get to make the best choice that they can: the option to read exactly what they want.

When students are able to make their own choices in reading, they are able to grow their capacity for reading. Student choice also helps students gain the background knowledge they need to become lifelong learners.
