Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching social studies and science to all of our 3rd graders this year! They love to learn and get their hands dirty. My students live in an extremely low-income area which often limits their exposure to life experiences. Because of this, I try to bring as many real-life discoveries into our classroom that I can. My students take on every challenge head-on and would love to have a science-based classroom!
My students work really hard to achieve our classroom goals, I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.
That includes having the support and resources they need to help them build their love for science and education!
My Project
My students and I would love to receive new and exciting books for our classroom. Students need a variety of books for learning about Science, Social Studies and Social and Emotional Learning. Since we have so much to learn in a small window of time, students like to use any of their free time to read about what we have learned. They often enjoy books that break down complex ideas. They often choose big books as reference guides to what they are interested in (animals, space, etc.). They also enjoy books that take nonfiction writing, but make it a story. My students would love to restock our classroom library to keep the love of school and reading fresh! Thank you for your consideration of this project!
