My students need additional research resources in the classroom, particularly a globe and some dictionaries.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
3 computers, 2 maps, and 1 dictionary...24 students. I encourage my students to ask questions and seek answers, but we do not have enough available resources for many students to use. They would really be able to benefit from having a globe and some more dictionaries to use on a daily basis.
"I teach fourth grade in a school in Illinois and I currently have twenty-four students.
I am really fortunate to have a great bunch of students who are very good at seeking and retaining information. Many of them go beyond the surface of a lesson and begin to evaluate and synthesize different concepts on their own.
My Project
If my students can have access to a globe, this will enhance my Social Studies and Science lessons/activities. The globe will allow these concepts that I teach to become real; things will go from a two-dimensional piece of paper or poster, to a three-dimensional tangible object that can activate and enhance more methods of learning for students -especially for the kinesthetic and visual learners. More dictionaries in the classroom would allow more than just one student at a time to be able to look up the definitions and spellings of certain words. No longer would I have to put a 5 minute time limit on the use of the dictionary so that all 24 students could get a chance to use it.
This is important because I realize that more students would become proactive in seeking information if we had more resources such as a globe and dictionaries readily accessible in the classroom.
My goal is to make sure that we get as close as possible to a mastery level of the skills we need to know in fourth grade, while preparing my students for some of the concepts they will be learning in fifth grade next year. Access to a globe and some more dictionaries will enhance their possibilities.
