My Project
Playing board games is entertaining, but that is only one benefit of board game playing. A few of the many benefits are the following: social-emotional learning, team building, building on communication and collaboration, as well as using their creativity and critical thinking skills to make game winning strategies!
Playing board games brings people closer, strengthens relationships, and can help you meet new people.
If funded before the holiday break, I would like to provide each of my students with a board game to be given to them as they leave for the winter holidays. I would love for each of my students to get a game, in order to have something new to play with their families and friends this year. These kids deserve less screen time, and more time building relationships away from computers and other technology.
Covid has changed a great deal about how we teach since 2020, but one thing that shouldn't change is family engagement with each other. I have requested ones that are fun and educational! My kids love math this year especially, so I thought they would enjoy ways to play math games at home while building on their skills at the same time. Because I teach at a Title I school in a high-poverty area, I know that many students don't always look forward to the holidays. This would be a gift for the whole family to enjoy while helping my students learn important math content and skills! I would love to build on not just academics through this project, but their mental health needs as well. Kids are spending time with families, building confidence, social skills, and working on math!
