My students need Orff instruments to develop beginning pitch reading, performance skills, fine motor skills, as well as to develop the discipline needed to perform on various instruments in their musical futures!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In a low-income, Latino population of Chicago, I educate students that have hearts of gold. I teach in a Bilingual school where the students come to school to receive an education and to be safe from the crime in their neighborhood. They support one another to be successful, work in groups, and share in each other's glory. My students are truly on the path to success. They are exceptional thinkers and have a truly inspiring work ethic.
As a member of the school and community, I do my best to support my students and provide them with the best possible experiences and learning opportunities through music.
Our school provides the students with experiences in various after school clubs, and a fulfilling experience in the fine arts (media, art, and music). However, we are low on funds and resources. These students should have access to instruments in order to achieve a true fine arts experience. I come to you with hopes to bring the best educational experiences to my students. Will you be the reason they are successful?
My Project
As a student in the early stages of music learning, there should be more to music than dancing and singing! My students in Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grades all would benefit from the use of Orff instruments in the classroom. With your donation, over 300 of my students will receive more engaging musical experiences through instrumental performance.
Orff instruments will provide my students with opportunities to sing and play harmonies, learn to read pitches in real time, and to develop fine motor skills through the use of mallets.
Students become more engaged when they are provided instruments with age-appropriate, rigorous tasks. Will you be a part of the successful future of my primary music students?
