Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have been diagnosed with various forms of disabilities but their primary disability is Autism.
My students have extreme difficulties and deficits in the areas of language, communication and social functioning.
The frustration of not being able to communicate often leads to negative behavior challenges in the classroom. The inability for some of my students to communicate has produced a significant impact on their quality of life, educational access, and development of social skills and relationships and more often lead to negative behavior challenges.
My Project
A lot of my students live in one income households and struggle financially to meet basic needs. They come to school hungry and often times the food they eat at school is their last daily meal. The cookies, skittles, chips, and juice will be used as a positive reinforcement during classroom instructions, eliminate student hunger and reduce classroom behavior.
My student will be able to eat the bars for dinner at home along with the snacks.
The cookies, skittles, chips, and juice will enhance my student attendance, increase participation during classroom instruction and activities, reduce student behaviors that interrupts the learning, and boost my students' confidence and self-esteem.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
