A Fresh Start To The New Year!

My students need assorted books including chapter books, informational texts and graphic novels and 3 'fidget pads' to help them maintain focus as they read.

My Students

Do you love the feeling of picking up a fresh new book and opening it up to the first page? Don't you love the excitement of knowing that you have a brand new adventure, right at your fingertips? My students love this feeling, as well.

Last year, I taught a 1st grade Gifted and Talented class at a public school in New York City.

This year, I have the great honor of moving up with the entire class and being their second grade teacher. As a result, I am desperate for new books for our classroom library. I teach a class of 25 readers. They love books and they are constantly spending their down time enjoying everything that they read.

My Project

I need new books to help fill my library. My students have read a good portion of the books in our classroom library. I have always felt that the library is the "heartbeat of the classroom" and I fear that this year, that heart might stop beating! I need your help in getting a variety of new books to meet the needs and interests of my diverse students. In addition to new books, I am requesting 3 "fidget pads". These pads help students with sensory issues to remain focused. As they sit on the fidget pads and read, they will be able to get lost in their books without the feeling that they need to get up and move around.

By donating to this project, you will help to keep the heartbeat of our classroom alive.
