My students need sand timers, a giant classroom timer, water wiggles, and a chart stand in order to clearly present the information they need to stay on task.

My Students
My classroom is filled with 6 amazing young adults with autism. My students are highly sensory motivated and driven. They are impulsive, tactile learners who need to be in a sensory filled room with information presented visually, in a clear and concise manner.
My students are young adults in their late teens.
They are working on skills to help them succeed in life outside of the classroom. They go to "job-sites" and go on community walks and participate as valued members of their community. They face challenges on a daily basis, such as over stimulation from the loud, visually over-stimulating world we live in, but through hard work and tactile learning, it will allow them to overcome these challenges.
My Project
I am requesting materials such as sand timers, rainbow sentence strips, chart stand, water wiggles, liquid motion bubbler, tangle relax therapy, name tags, laminating sheets, velcro, shelves, peg, number boards, and blue paper. The materials I am requesting will be used in several ways throughout the classroom and for individual students. They will be used as motivational tools to help my students achieve small and large, and short-term and long-term goals. They will also be implemented as behavior management tools to help them self-regulate the obsessive compulsive nature of autism. These materials will help my students by motivating and receive, or filter out the extra sensory stimulation they need to function. These materials will allow the curriculum and any important information be displayed in a clean, clear, and functional manner for my students. With these materials, we can show my students a fun, tactile, active, and creative way of learning in the classroom.
This project will help show these young adults that kindness counts and that even a little bit goes a long way in this big world.
In addition, these materials will help my students self-regulate and they will function as motivational tools to help my students stay motivated to achieve academic and social-emotional goals. Thank you for supporting these amazing young men and women!!
