A Fresh Start: Clean and Healthy Hygiene

My Project

It's that time of the year! A new school year for students to learn and become knowledgeable. It's also that time of the year, when many students may not have the appropriate supplies to maintain healthy and clean hygiene. Our school serves mostly low-income households and comes from different backgrounds, Purchasing basic household items can be a huge financial expense for a family.

As a Family Liaison, my role is to ensure that my students and families are feeling supported by connecting them to resources that will allow them to feel a sense of relief.

Many of our student caregivers work 2nd shift jobs and may feel overwhelmed with having to provide basic needs items. This can result in our students not feeling successful because of the worry and concern they may have for their caregivers. Our students should not have to worry about adult issues as it's their job to be a student and learn.

This project will help my students and their families to feel a sense of relief from economic hardship. The items listed will be used to provide resources and supplies for families and students in order to meet their basic needs and help my student with clean and healthy hygiene. The caregivers would not have to worry about their child's cleanliness at school but rather have a confident feeling that their child(ren) will learn and be educated. This is also an opportunity to teach students the importance of hygiene and how it's connected to their learning.
