This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching social studies and science to all of our 3rd graders this year! They love to learn and get their hands dirty. My students live in an extremely low-income area which often limits their exposure to life experiences. Because of this, I try to bring as many real-life discoveries into our classroom that I can. My students take on every challenge head-on and would love to have a science-based classroom!

My students work really hard to achieve our classroom goals, I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.

That includes having the support and resources they need to help them build their love for science and education!

My Project

I would like to give my students a variety of books to help build their love for reading. My kids (like all students) have had a really tough go of school for the last 2 years. These students are fantastic, creative kiddos that enjoy what all 8 & 9 year-olds love. The issue is that these kids are not reading at the 3rd grade level.

Rather than borrowing easy readers about Paw patrol from the Kindergarten teachers, my team and I created this project to help our kids get high interest books at their own reading level!

We know (and have seen) how much more effort students put into their reading when they find something worth reading. Thank your for considering our project and contributing to the education of our future leaders of America!
