Help me give my students supplies to maintain a cleaned air class with an air purifier so they can use paper, crayons, and pencils to create and bind their stories into books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from low income and diverse backgrounds. They are full of life and imagination. Many come from other countries which don't speak English. They arrive to our country with very little and hope for a lot. They are unsure of their surroundings and who to trust. I try to make them feel safe and welcome.
They are eager to explore the world around them.
I try to make them feel secure to question and discover what the world has to offer them. We start the year as strangers but after a few weeks we learn to communicate and share our individual stories either by words or pictures.
I tell my class that we are a family and that we need to look after each other and care for each other's feelings. It takes a while but eventually they learn to make each other smile or laugh when they see someone sad or upset in class. By the end of the year, they see each other as brothers and sisters.
My Project
The materials I have chosen will make my class a safe and clean area for my students to learn. They will to make their stories come to life. The air purifier will help maintain the air in our room clean during the pandemic. Our zip code has one of the largest number of COVID-19 cases in Miami. It will help my students feel more comfortable to be in school. The headphones will help them concentrate on their computer assignments that is part of our virtual curriculum.
During this time of uncertainty, many of my first graders don't know what is going on around them but they will be sure of one thing that my classroom is a safe place to be and create.
The dry erase boards and Expo markers will be used by them when they are learning from home. They will use the boards to write and illustrate their sentences and stories. They can then show what they have created during our Zoom classes. Once they return to school they will use the writing material (pencils, crayons. paper, etc.) to write and illustrate words, sentences, and stories they create. Thereby becoming authors and illustrators to their own books. The binding machine will be used to publish these stories.
I have published my students stories in the past and all my former students take pride when they see their words published in a book. The students take their books home. They read their book to their family members. Many learn to love to read and write their own stories.
