My Project
What I love about my students is their uniqueness, their diversity, and the many experiences and stories that they bring into the classroom every day. Each student brings their own interest and opinion to class, and I do my best to incorporate their voice into our class materials. To that end, I am seeking funding to update our class free-reading library with stories about topics that THEY have expressed interest in.
From sports to environmental issues, animals, sports, and magical tales, there is a book on this list for each of my students that will enable them to embark on exciting journeys, discover new cultures and ideas, and reflect on their own experiences and perspectives.
These books, written by authors of color, women, and Hispanic and Latino authors, will help students understand and appreciate the diverse experiences and stories that exist in our world.
I believe that these materials will make a difference in my students' learning by providing them with not only a broader understanding of the world and the people in it, but also by fostering a love for reading. Reading for enjoyment and discovery is just as important as academic learning, and these books will give my students the opportunity to experience both. They will leave the classroom with a greater appreciation for diversity and the unique experiences that make us all human, as well as a newfound love for the power and magic of books.
