My Students
My classroom is like my students' home-away-from-home. It is a place where I am fostering a love of learning with a sense of independence. My classroom is set up to be a place where my students can learn and feel as though they are somewhere safe.
Our school is the poorest and in one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S.
School is typically the only safe haven these kids know. My students live in a city where the dynamics can change in the blink of an eye. Even though my students live in a city that has its ups and downs, they are always eager to come to school to learn and experience new and exciting things. The students in my class are all classified as "Autistic" and as one student said, "We are all autistic in our own ways." I want to be able to provide my students with every experience that they will need to be successful in this world. I strive to make my students feel special as well as loved!
My Project
My students are amazing young people who work very hard and I am asking for an iPad with a writing pencil to assist with their daily mathematics lessons. This iPad and the Apple Pencil together will aid in my demonstrations of how to solve various mathematical problems. While we are continuing to learn remotely, I would be using the iPad to view the students as well as demonstrating how to solve various mathematical problems that we are working on. While we have been remote, I have been using a dry erase board, but an iPad would make things so much better for my students. The use of the iPad with the glass shield on it, will help to make sure that this item is safe and used for a long time with my students.
