My Students
Hello,
I want to take some time to tell you about my students and why they would be an amazing class for this project.
I have 23 3rd grade students who are already showing to be an amazing team for learning. They have shown they care about building each other up and that they can be independent learners.
We have incorporated modern teaching into our class and they love it. Students have shown that they can work with a team or independently on a learning plan to achieve their goals. There are many students about 20% in this class that are reading below grade level. They have to work extra hard to reach their goals. This take creativity and thinking out of the box. They have shown they love to work and learn around the room and this is their preference.
My Project
Restrictions have been placed on our school because of COVID and has made it where we were required to have desks. Being stuck in desks the last two years has put a huge dampener on collaborative work and motivation for my students. With some of these restrictions now removed students are now more than ever ready to move around and collaborate in creative ways. This will entice a new found zeal for learning and completing projects.
In addition to flexible seating having a standing desk at the teachers station will make a new a improved area for presenting and getting help.
Standing while working helps reduce back problems, improves mood and energy levels, as well as just more efficient. Students will be able to walk up to the standing desk and present their projects with ease. With both of these options in place our classroom will have a new sense of empowered learning. A new sense of choice and efficiency will make our environment motivating and productive.
