A Flexible Place to Engage in Math and ELA Centers
Help me give my students a flexible place to learn using Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seats as they learn through play using Lakeshore Making Ten Instant Centers and Blends & Digraphs Instant Learning Centers.
My students are fun-loving, eager to learn children with special needs ranging in grades from kindergarten through first grade. They attend a K-1 self-contained Special Ed class in a public school in Queens.
My students are supported with hands-on activities and topics they enjoy.
They love to learn about animals, plants and the natural world.
Students often work in small groups to develop academic and social skills. They are learning to collaborate with their peers and share ideas and express themselves through learning experiences.
My Project
My students with special needs are motivated to learn challenging math and ELA skills in a flexible environment that delivers instruction through centers that are tactual and engaging. Students in my class are learning to control their behavior and are supported to choose where they learn best (sitting on cushions, in bean bag chairs, using lap trays) when collaborating with their peers in engaging tactual and visual center games that reinforce new math and ELA skills. Students learn in an environment that is set up so they can move around and have access to centers that are hands-on and reinforcing.
