My students need flash drives and paper! I am trying to teach my students to go paperless, but we need paper to do that. They do not all have internet, so we need drives.
We need paper to go paperless! I have over 130 students this year, and I've already bought 3 cases of paper on my own. It's only been 10 weeks. I want to go paperless, and have my students turn in their work on flash drives. This could be the start of something awesome!
I have some amazing students.
They are smart, funny and preparing for their futures. This year, a lot of them want to be ready for high school, even though they are only in the 7th grade. They know that their projects will be turned in electronically, but many of them don't have constant Internet access to complete their work. They need flash drives, and I need paper. I am trying to transition to a paperless classroom.
We are a Title I school in Philadelphia. We have been overfilled and I have a homeroom with 36 students. I adore them all and I want them to have every opportunity to be amazing. As well as my homeroom, I have three other classes with 30-33 students in each.
My Project
These resources will be put to good use. The flash drives will be shared among my classes. At the end of the year, the students in the most need, will be given the flash drives. Most of my projects are going to be electronic this year. I want my students to master the computer by the end of the year and be completely prepared to turn in projects electronically.
As for the paper, I plan on using that for the transition to a paperless classroom. My students need to have something physical to hold onto before they can move on to the electronic world. I've had more students this year than I have any other year and I can't keep up with the paper demand.
My students are working on multiple projects for language arts and science. They are using PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. Right now, they are researching high schools in the area. Next year, they will research colleges near and far. They will learn how to manipulate the programs and flash drives to personalize them and their reports.
Not only will my students be comfortable using a computer and flash drive by the end of the year, ten of these flash drives will go to the students that I know do not have constant Internet access.
Many of them have a laptop or computer at home, but they do not have constant internet access. The rest will be saved for next year. Your donation will help my students throughout high school and college with an 8GB flash drive. They will be able to save everything for years to come.
