My Project

Imagine walking into a classroom where the gentle bubbling of an aquarium sets the tone for a calm, curious, and focused learning environment. That’s what we’re working to create—a living, breathing slice of nature right in our room. With two fancy goldfish (the kind with the adorable “brainy” heads!) and a few peaceful shrimp, our classroom aquarium is already stealing hearts and sparking big questions. But to give our aquatic friends the healthy, thriving environment they deserve, we need just a little help. This project will provide essential supplies like a canister filter, sponge filter, LED lighting, a heater for stable temperatures, natural substrate, water conditioner, and nutritious foods like bloodworms and goldfish pellets.

These aren’t just aquarium accessories—they're tools that will transform this tank into a powerful teaching space.

Students will track water quality using science-based methods, learn about life cycles and ecosystems, and even write reflections and research journals about their observations. They'll ask questions like, “Why do shrimp hide?” or “What does ammonia do to water?” and then go find the answers.

Beyond academics, this tank is also a source of calm in a busy day. Watching the fish swim helps students regulate emotions, take mindful moments, and develop empathy as they care for living creatures. Many students may never have pets at home, but in our room, they’ll be part of something beautiful and alive. With your help, we’re not just building an aquarium—we’re creating a daily opportunity for joy, peace, and learning that ripples far beyond the glass.
