Help me give my students writing tools to complete their classwork each day.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A majority of my students are from a low income family and receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of my students take home bags of non perishable meals to get them through the weekend. Despite their economic status, my students arrive to class with a smile and are eager to learn each day. The community surrounding our school consists of abandoned houses and vacant lots full of debris. My students often tell me about unfortunate incidents that occur in their own backyard. My goal is to create a safe learning environment that they can call their home away from home.
My Project
Having access to sharpened pencils allow students to work uninterrupted. My first graders often arrive to school without pencils and spend valuable time searching for a sharpened pencil in the classroom. We currently need a heavy duty pencil sharpener that can endure lots of daily use. We do so much writing and drawing that the pencils we started the school year off with have now shrank into stubby nubs. Please help supply our classroom with pencils and an electric pencil sharpener. Its the simple things that make a huge difference. With more writing tools on hand we can continue writing and working.
