My Students

I teach in a preschool room in a low-income school district. My students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I strive to provide them with a fun, interactive, safe, and meaningful learning environment. As their teacher, I try to instill the importance of communicating/listening to one another, being a good citizen and leader, and using trauma-informed techniques to aid them in their social-emotional development.

My students have various learning styles' backgrounds and needs.

Due to being located in an inner-city, funding is extremely hard to come by, and in order to provide my students with the best learning experiences I can give them, I typically find ways to procure these items and experiences out of pocket or by any means I can, which is where DonorsChoose comes in.

My Project

Currently, our classroom is doing a hybrid learning schedule. On days that students are not in-person they log in virtually during our classroom learning sessions. While we have tried to modify lessons to be equitable for both sets of learners, our virtual learners are not able to fully see visuals in real-time or lessons run longer in order to make sure visuals, stories, and the chalkboard are shown to students.

This project is to give our classroom its own document camera to use during daily lessons and allow close-ups for virtual learners at home.

By having our own document camera, we will be able to project visuals and stories to show students at home. It will also allow us to zero in on stories, worksheets, and other visuals to work on specific things one at a time and minimize visual distraction for special education students. Should our class have to go completely virtual, a classroom document camera will also maximize the activities and lessons our class would be able to work on together.
