My Students
Our Title 1 Montessori school serves mostly our local community of low income and refugee families. The students in my class are a group of twenty seven first, second, and third graders that represent a multitude of cultural and social backgrounds.
Despite of the daily challenges they encounter, they are eager to learn, work hard, support one another, and are very grateful for your help in their success.
My Project
We are starting the year in a distance learning model and as the situation becomes safer, we will transition to a hybrid model and finally back to full in-person.
One way our class learns is through books.
Often I introduce lessons with a read aloud. These books will not only serve as lesson introductions, but also introduce all of us to many different cultures, different families and historical events. This will give an opportunity to every student to find themselves in the stories we will read together. By learning about each other’s cultures, they will develop the empathy and understanding that we need for a brighter future.
Thank you for contributing to making our world a better place!
