Our school serves students in grades PreK - 5th who are coming from different socioeconomic backgrounds, including children with physical and mental disabilities. Our students are incredible learners; eager to learn and create their own music. They enjoy every opportunity to perform for their families, friends, and community members.
My Project
Having a piano lab helps students at a variety of different skill levels. It gives them the opportunity to practice and improve their musical and self-expression skills. Along with the joy of making music, learning to play an instrument such as the piano helps students develop important physical and social skills that will continue throughout their lives.
Students who learn to play a musical instrument have a greater capacity for spatial cognition, an improved ability to concentrate on complex tasks, increased critical thinking skills, and a greater degree of patience. Performing a musical instrument also teaches students to appreciate their roles in a joint production as well as to be appreciative of other musician’s parts in creating a successful performance.
