This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school prides itself as one that fosters collaboration and group work among our students. The use of hands-on, experiential learning works best with those who struggle with learning English.
The 2020-2021 school year (in the time of COVID) is shaping up to be the most challenging year ever.
Teachers like myself are making plans to teach in-person, and/or a mix of remote and in-person or completely remote. Should we go to in-person classes, we will need to find ways to social distance and keep students and staff safe. The only thing that is certain is that we will have a dramatically reduced budget.
My Project
As of now, it looks as though we will be reopening schools come September for partial in-person classes. We have all been working very hard on finding ways to do so safely.
Unfortunately, all of our desks are designed for group or collaborative learning, and therefore need to be replaced with individualized laptop desks.
Replacing our existing desks may prove difficult as we also expect massive cuts to the school budget next year. We need your support now more than ever.
