This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With computers and robots being such an important part of future jobs, it is important that we expose our students to coding while they are young. The Wonder Workshop Dash robot is a fantastic and interactive way to get students interested in coding and the possibilities that it offers.

My students come from a low income school.

Many of them do not have access to technology outside of school. In a time where students are set in front of a computer or television when they get home, exposing them to hands on creative resources while they are at school is even more important. My students are very inquisitive and using Wonder Workshop Dash robot to code will help them to understand the world around them. They will be exposed to robots and coding and those are things that will be important in the future as well as future careers.

My Project

In my classroom, the students will be able to use the Wonder Workshop Dash robot to code. Dash will act out their coding. This will allow students to see how coding is applicable in the world. That we program robots to build cars, and perform complex tasks. They will see that we can use computers to help us, and they will be able to put their logic to use having Dash complete tasks.

This project will help my students to think logically.

They will have to use problem solving skills when coding Wonder Workshop Dash to complete the task. Many students have a problem seeing the steps that need to be taken for a task to be completed, by using Dash, they will be able to see their commands followed through to get the task completed. They will be able to see if there was a mistake or error in their commands, and fix it so the task can be completed.
