Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) activities are vital for fostering supportive school communities. I plan to use the requested materials to organize events focused on SEL themes, such as diversity, while also establishing a reward system that allows students to showcase their accomplishments. The pins, stickers, and pencils will celebrate the diversity in our communities by recognizing significant events like World Autism Day, hosting a Mental Health Awareness Week, and organizing a Pride event. Additionally, our school will conduct classroom lessons and provide workshops/activities for both students and their families.
To enhance our supportive community even further, we plan to introduce a pin-collecting initiative, reminiscent of Disney pin collecting!
Students will receive a lanyard and earn pins for various achievements, such as academic performance, attendance, and acts of kindness. They can also use these pins collected during SEL activities. This way, students can wear their accomplishments and values with pride!
